The Museum was founded in 1998 with the purpose of familiarizing the visitors with the world of bees and all activities related to them.
Initially visited by occasional tours of tourists and beekeepers, the Museum has now an educational imprinting directed to tourists and particularly to students.
The Beekeeping Centre of Cà Cappellino hosts the Museum, where the local honey producers of the Po Delta bring their honeycombs. The honey extraction takes place here and the honey is checked by means of various chemical analyses.
It is then put into the ripeners, packaged and eventually sold to the public. The Museum is organized as a circuit with panels and showcases containing various natural hymenopterous nests, besides ancient and modern tools for honey processing.
The goal is to familiarize the visitors with the world of bees and with their unceasing and untiring work, which brings to the honey production, but also to the production of pollen, bee-glue, royal jelly and wax.
The Museum is organized on the premises of the former primary school that was transformed in a structure which includes an entrance hall, an exhibition room, an auditorium, a honey extraction room and packaging laboratory, a wide parking area and a suitable structure for disabled visitors.
The staff of the centre has the following tasks: opening of the centre, welcoming visitors and demonstrating the various activities concerning honey and its by-products (pollen, wax, bee-glue etc.), guiding the tour of the apiary, protected by a reed shed with a display window for studying the bees and the honeycombs with the possibility of taking pictures or shooting a video. It is possible to taste various types of honey produced in the Park of Delta del Po
