History

IMAGE 1 - Display window located in the first hall of the Antiquarium and containing TABLEWARE: CUPS AND PLATES made of Sealed earth (“Terra sigillata”), the typical Roman red-painted pottery; MUGS with one or two handles, made of thin-walled pottery without coating. The Antiquarium of Loreo - inaugurated in September 2004 - was born out of the necessity to render visible and "visitable" the Roman site in Corte Cavanella which cannot be completely brought to light because of managerial reasons and geological features typical of the deltaic territory.

Part of the building of the Local Administration, along Riviera Marconi, near the civic Tower, was used for the organization of the Antiquarium included in the permanent administration project of the "Cultural and Archaeological Park - Corte Cavanella".

A flight of stairs or a lift inside the clock tower give access to an entry on the balcony in Riviera Marconi through which you can enter the building that hosts the museum. Since its inauguration the Antiquarium has been open to the public on the occasion of the museums and culture weeks, and on Thursday and Saturday mornings to allow guided tour for students.
