Site accessibility
The Provincial Museum System was devised with an aim to reach at least accessibility level AA (priority 2) of the "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines" issued by W3C-WAI. The site complies with the 22 Technical Verification requirements (Ministry Decree 8/7/2005 - Enclosure A) of Law 4/2004, "Provisions to enable disabled people to access information technology tools".
Therefore, the site intends to provide accessible information, without any discrimination, to all people, including disabled ones, by overcoming or limiting their disadvantages.
These are its main features:
- pages have been tested with various browsers on various platforms and operating systems. Presentation and functions of the various pages are very similar;
- contents and functions are also available if images are deselected;
- characters can be enlarged or made smaller and the window size on the screen can be modified (XHTML 1.1 and CSS 2 specifications);
- pages can also be navigated by just using a keyboard and applying normal skills;
- if style sheets, scripts and other programming items are deselected, contents and functions remain usable, although in different ways;
- contents and functions are still available with a text browser and contents maintain their overall meanings and proper semantic structures.

Shortcuts
In order to help users, it is also possible to navigate through the site pages without a mouse, using some shortcut keys.
Practically, by pressing one or more keys, depending on the browser used, plus one of the numbers reported in the list below, it is possible to go to the desired link.
Numbers from 1 to 7 have been used, with the following meanings:
-
1 = Introduction
- 2 = Museums
- 3 = Informazion
- 4 = Site search
Depending on the browser and operating system, the key combination may vary, whereas with some old-generation browsers this method does not work; it is worth checking.
Here follow some examples of key combinations:
- Internet Explorer: "ALT" + list number, followed by "ENTER".
- Netscape 6/7 - Mozilla 1.0/1.1: "ALT" + list number
- Mozilla Firefox 0.8 - 1.5: "ALT" + list number
- Mozilla Firefox 2.0 -...: "ALT" + "SHIFT" + list number
- iCab (Mac) - "ALT" + list number
- Amaya: "CRTL" or "ALT" (depending on the settings) + list number
A practical example with Internet Explorer: "ALT" + "2" + "ENTER" = go to page: "Museums".
