The Museum of "The future of memory" of the Ancient Mantovani Distilleries was inaugurated in November 2004.
It was built inside the company itself through an exhibition path that reconstructs the entrepreneurial and working history of 6 generations.
The project is the result of a passionate research on the history, the legends and the traditions of liquors and distillery. The museum has both objects belonging to the company and some other items purchased during the research.
The museum offers visitors an exploratory and educational itinerary on the production of craft and distilled liquors. The exhibition path begins with the traditions and legends related to this very old trade and passes through the manufacturing processes.
The visitor is actively involved through the use of his senses in order to recognize, for instance, the scent of the raw materials (aromatic herbs, spices, essential oils, fruit) and to learn how to appreciate the characteristics of the product.
The museum has three exhibition paths: A technical one among the instruments and tools of the craft; an educational path through organoleptic charts set for the different age groups; a historic path dedicated to the reconstruction of the history of distillation, from its origins passing through the rich Renaissance up to the present days.
The museum unfolds along 4 rooms according to the logic of the three paths - technical, educational and historic - with various theme displays and illustrative showcases dedicated to semi-mobile files, instruments and original texts.
A special area is dedicated to guided tastings.
The Mantovani family is in charge of the museum with the help of occasional technical collaborators such as cooperatives dedicated to children activities, other museums and territorial institutions
